PDF Info Metadata
PDF files contain an Info dictionary that stores document metadata as key-value pairs. This metadata provides descriptive information about the document's content, creation, and history. The Info dictionary is optional but commonly used to help users identify and manage PDF documents.
Standard Info Dictionary Fields
Title
The document's title. This is typically displayed in the window title bar when the PDF is opened and used by document management systems for identification.
Author
The name of the person who created the document. This field helps identify the document's creator and is often used in search and cataloging systems.
Subject
A brief description of the document's topic or purpose. This provides context about the document's content at a glance.
Keywords
A list of keywords or phrases associated with the document. These terms facilitate searching and categorization in document management systems.
Creator
The name of the application that originally created the source document (before PDF conversion). For example, "Microsoft Word" or "Adobe InDesign."
Producer
The name of the application or library that converted the document to PDF format. This indicates which software performed the PDF generation.
CreationDate
The date and time when the document was originally created, stored in PDF date format (e.g., D:20240115120000).
ModDate (Modification Date)
The date and time when the document was last modified. This helps track document versioning and updates.
Trapped
Indicates whether the document has been modified to include trapping information for high-quality printing. Values are typically "True," "False," or "Unknown."
